Waffles that taste like apple pie? Yes please! With the last of my apples from my parents’ garden I’ve been making these regularly over the past few weeks – they’re just too good!
I’ve been told that my standard waffle recipe works well with gluten-free flour, they just might need a little extra care as they tend to be more delicate.
Makes: 2 waffles
Ingredients:
100g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp granulated sweetener (coconut sugar or stevia work well)
Pinch of salt
80g apple, finely grated
4 tbsp aquafaba (or other egg replacer equivalent to 2 eggs)
4-6 tbsp plant milk
What to do:
- Mix together the dry ingredients
- Add the finely grated apple and stir
- Add in the aquafaba/egg replacer and plant milk and stir until combined
- If you have the Sage No-Mess Waffle Maker like me, switch it to setting 3 (medium)
- Pour in around half the mixture into your waffle maker, or however much you judge to be right for your brand of waffle maker, plus a little extra
- When it’s ready (mine beeps!) simply repeat with the rest of the mixture
- Top with nut butter, syrup, and more apple!

These look incredible! I could definitely see them working well with oat flour 🙂 will give them a try and maybe add some powdered peanut butter!
