This recipe is for all of you out there who don’t like bananas. Making a good smoothie without bananas isn’t the easiest, as most people rely on them to give that delicious creamy texture that we’ve come to expect. But I’ve found that using yoghurt gives an amazing texture to smoothies too, and really works well, especially with lime. Then I find out it’s the season for golden kiwis and I’m sold!
The Zespri Sungold yellow fleshed kiwifruit sounds quite exotic, but is actually really easy to find in UK supermarkets at the moment (only until September though!). I find they taste much less acidic and sweeter than green kiwis, and they have 3 times more vitamin C than oranges (there’s a good infographic here). Point is, they’re damn good and if you haven’t tried them before then hurry – now’s your chance!
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
150g (soy) yoghurt
1 Zespri yellow fleshed kiwi
Juice of 1/2 lime
100mL water
50g oats
1 tsp stevia (optional)
What to do:
- Add the ingredients to a blender in the order shown
- Blend at high speed for around 30 seconds
- Serve with more fresh kiwi slices

I love bananas, but I don’t always feel like having them! It’s totally easy to make a creamy smoothie without them though–I use strawberries and peaches as a replacement sometimes!
